069 | What Being Used by God Requires
It has been my desire of late, and my prayer to the Lord, to more effectively reach people as a witness and for the cause of Christ. But as is often the case, when I put the matter before the Lord, He sort of turned the tables on me, showing me first what must change within my own self before I could ever reach others for Him. That's what this episode is all about. I hope you find it helpful.
068 | The Purpose of Freedom
It has been said that the government of the United States is wholly inadequate for anything other than a just and moral people. Freedom is only a blessing when used from a moral position for moral purposes. Morality is from God, thus freedom must be used in the way that God designed. This episode is about the Biblically defined purpose of freedom.
067 | You Have Not Passed This Way Before
So much of our current culture is about doing everything you can to stay inside your comfort zone, but so much of the Biblical culture that we read in God’s Word is about God moving people outside their comfort zone, and asking them to trust Him with the results. There is a great section of Scripture in Joshua which shows us how we might be successful when the Lord asks us to do things we’ve never done before.
066 | Standing Before Kings
This is a short story that clearly puts forth two possible future outcomes, both directly related to the choices you choose to make today. One choice (the path of entitlement, victimization, and laziness) will put you before mean men. The other choice (the path of humility, personal responsibility, and diligence) will stand you before kings.
065 | The Burden of Captivity
Sometimes the very things that we surround ourselves with for comfort and assurance are the exact things that end up owning us, more than we end up owning them. This episode is about the things that separate us from the liberty found in a relationship with Christ, and how sometimes we mistakenly hold those things that separate us as precious.
064 | The Unchanging Will of God
We have a tendency to allow ourselves to be consumed with anxiety and worry over our own very temporary life systems and procedures. It would do us good to remember that God is on His throne and His will is unchanging. The question is - Am I in His will for those who obey? Or am I in His will for those who disobey?
063 | The Comfort of Righteousness
It would seem at times in our current culture that comfort, in many ways, has become the number one priority. Comfort for the Christian, according to the Bible, has little to nothing to do with culture and possessions, and everything to do with where we personally are with the Lord. This episode is about the comfort that righteous living brings to the Christian.
062 | Servants. Warriors. Kings.
There are three pretty common transitions in a person's life, as there are in the life of a Christian. We go from Servant, or as the Bible says, "little children", to Warriors, which the Bible describes as "young men", and from Warriors (if we learn our lessons correctly) we should transition to Kings, which the Bible calls "fathers". This episode shows us from the Bible the value of each one of these phases, and how transitioning from one to the next requires mastery of the proceeding stage before moving on.
061 | Have You Considered Him?
In today's society, especially with it being a rather contentious election year, we are being force fed many different viewpoints and opinions; we're being told that we have to understand and consider more content and information than could ever be consumed by one person, and all at the expense of forgoing consideration of Christ. Christ is not only worth considering, but He is increasingly becoming the only thing worth considering. Have you considered Him?
060| Christian Character
The idea of character, just like the idea of Christianity, has somehow become a subjective notion, as if character can be defined by people separate from how morality defines it. But character, specifically Biblical character, is a Bible Doctrine. Which is what episode #60 is all about. Enjoy!
059 | The Value of Instant Repentance
We've gotten to the point in our "greater Christian culture", in which the Biblical Doctrine of Repentance is not very popular. We all want to have the privilege of Christianity while at the same time attempting to deny the responsibility of repentance. This episode is not only about the value of repentance, but also the value of repenting quickly when confronted with truth.
058 | Negotiating with God
So often when God presents us with His will for our life, if it does not fit into our desires or our will, we attempt to negotiate with Him. Sometimes, God will let us have what we thought we wanted, only for it to turn out to be more of a curse than a blessing, as our desires or solutions often become our biggest problems. This episode is about obeying God the first time.
057 | What Do You Want?
It's very unfortunate how convoluted our desires have become. We think we want temporary pleasures and comforts, while at the same time missing the true value and worth of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Before you can have a relationship with Jesus Christ, you have to decide what you truly want, which is what this episode is all about.
056 | The Heart For The Ministry | with Bob Harbin
This week we are sharing a conversation I had, about the heart for the ministry, with Pastor Bob Harbin, who pastored for 34 years in Dubuque, IA, and has been serving for the last 10 years as an evangelist out of Duncan, OK. Pastor Harbin made some excellent points that we would do good to consider, and as he and I have known each other for 25+ years, we had some laughs along the way. Hope you enjoy Episode #56!
055 | What It Takes To Build
This week we're talking about endurance. Our culture is full of things that have been started, but the list of things that have been completed is much shorter. This episode looks at the Biblical requirement of what it takes to build something worth having.
054 | Cotton Candy Christianity | with T.D. Richardson
Episode #54 is an interview with an old friend from the U.S. Marine Corps. His name is T. D. Richardson, and when I knew him he was a Lieutenant in 3rd Battalion 8th Marines (3/8); he went on to become a member of the U.S. Navy Seals as well. Our conversation covers the spectrum from true Christian manhood, to aggression & passion, and emotional & spiritual recovery. Along the way, we have some laughs and swap some good stories. I'm 100% positive you'll enjoy this episode!
053 | When the Devils Meet Christ
The Gospels lay out a story about a conversation that takes place between a man possessed demons, and Jesus Christ. In this conversation there are many things for us to learn, some of which are: the lack of power we have over the darkness of this world; the lack of power the darkness of this world has over Christ; and God's love for those who need a Saviour.
052 | The Sin That Cannot Be Forgiven
We serve a great, wonderful, and mighty God, who can reach into the depths of sin and death and rescue the chiefest sinner, as the Apostle Paul said. However the Word of God does very clearly lay out one sin (one individual form of blasphemy) that cannot be forgiven. This episode is about that one sin which God will not forgive.
051 | The Reality of Life with Christ
There's two ways in which we can live this life, but only one that we can live it as Christians. We can live this life given over to our own ideas and concepts, or we can live it as Christians, given over to the doctrine of the Word of God. This episode is about the inevitable realities of a life lived with, as well as without, Christ.
050 | The Convicted Conscience
One of the most difficult parts about being confronted with the truth about ourselves, is how unsettling it can be. However, when Christ confronts or convicts our conscience, He offers right along with the conviction a space for repentance and forgiveness. This episode is about that space for repentance.
